Rare Purple Glass Target Ball Gallery Range

A very rare purple glass target ball or gallery range ball used at shooting gallery’s in fairgrounds of the 19th century. Seen more often in blue glass this purple example is the first I have seen. Seems to have its original cardboard collar and as found dirt possibly used to fit the ball upside down on the shooting mount? No visible damage. Length 2.1/4 inches. English c1870/80.
