Brancepeth Castle Russell Family Sealed Wine Bottle Durham
Brancepeth castle was the family seat of Viscount Boyne in the village of the same name in the North of England near Durham. These earlier bottles are probably associated with the Russell family who bought the castle in the 1820s. Height 14 inches, width 6 inches. Later sealed bottles of this type held Chateau lafite red wine and is is possible these earlier examples did too! Freeblown sand pontil. C1820
