Rare Patent Egg Beater
Very rare pottery egg beater with blue and white transfer print. Inside the handled pot are several spikes used to beat the egg. Marked on the base Josiah Lorkin patentee. Josiah patented the egg beater in 1849 and also exhibited it at the Great Exhibition of 1851. Height 6 inches. This spiked design was copied from an earlier design by Wedgwood. One faint hairline and small chip to end of one spike. English C1850. In more than 30 years this is only the second complete example of have seen.
