Vauxhall Pottery Stoneware Tankard Banstead Down

Exceptional decorative large tankard profusely sprigged with 3 large trees and a hunting scene. The wording around the rim is a ballad known as the Hunting of the Hare and published in 1648. Banstead Downs was a popular royal hunting ground in and around the Epsom Downs. A scattering of small chips were on the rim that have been repaired. No cracks or losses. Height 10 inches. Wonderful colour and dating from the 1720,s.
