Black Glass Sealed Onion Bottle 1702

Here we have an unrecorded sealed onion bottle in a very deep black glass. The seal reads IS 1702. The I or actually a J is struck as an Alban cross so may denote the owner as a man of the church. This bottle is not recorded in Antique Sealed Bottles by David Burton. Height 5.5 inches, width 6 inches. The base has a dealers label attached from Cardiff so may be of Welsh origin. Two blobs of glass attached to bottom side of bottle from manufacture. The back of the string rim was chipped and has been repaired.General light surface scratches. Tiny burst bubble on seal.
