Elizabethan Stoneware Bellarmine Jug

Exceptionally rare bellarmine jug with Elizabeth 1 Crowned Tudor Rose roundels on three sides. The courtier Henry Noel is mentioned as ordering stoneware pots from Germany towards the end of the 16th century. Height 6 inches. Chip to top rim with associated nibbles to foot. No cracks or restoration. The surface has been left unwashed with 425 years of grime and wax. German C1595/1603.
