Antique Sealed Wine Bottle Charles Shirreff 1783

A rare large globular form wine bottle for Charles Shirreff of Edinburgh. He was well known as a miniature portrait painter. The bottle has a large seal on the shoulder with a unicorn logo. The bottom of the seal at 7 o’clock had a small chip which has now been restored. No other chips or cracks. The neck has crizzling  all around it with two small air bubbles on the surface which have burst. Height 26.5 cm, width 22 cm. Only 2 examples of this seal is known. Scottish C1783.
